Twistor
Twistor
Twistor Theory is a theory of physics which has little to do with our Twistor puckhandling device. However, in Twistor Theory a Twistor is a mathematical object with a long axis and a twisting action around that axis. Our Twistor has these properties too. And with them it creates a high-control way to use the bottom hand as a guide and put the onus on the top hand to be precise in puckhandling.
Traditionally, hockey players have used tubes of a few types (cardboard toilet paper rolls or sections of pipe) as makeshift training aids to force the top hand to have an exquisite level of skill. Specifically, they allow that bottom hand to slide and the stick to rotate within that bottom hand independent of the motion of that bottom hand.
FÉNIX Hockey's Twistor facilitates the exact same freedom from bottom hand influence but adds back some control which is lost in the old paradigm. Players can now use that bottom hand to position the heel of the stick near the puck while the top hand has to control the rotational orientation of the blade. This makes for a much more dynamic experience in terms of the complexity of puckhandling that can reliably be done and makes for a much more enjoyable top-hand-focused training experience!
FEATURES:
The Twistor is a stickhandling aid that attaches to any model of stick. The best puckhandlers in the world use the top hand as the dominant hand with a looser bottom hand grip.
Training that isolates the top hand with respect to the job of controlling the rotational orientation of the stick blade promotes:
- Top hand strength
- Greater reach and extension
- Proper top hand utilization
- Bottom hand slide "at-the-ready" for bringing the puck in tight or protecting it way out wide
- Greater overall dexterity
- Faster hand
