FEATURES (what does a MatchStick do that a cone cannot):
Heads-up - put it anywhere you'd be put a cone, but now skaters can keep the eyes up as they work through a drill.
Presence - The MatchStick's ability to stand tall creates more of a game-realistic defender visual and feel compared to a cone.
Play into contact - Foster key coaching points around initiating body contact when protecting the puck, driving the net, or getting to scoring areas in general.
Intuitive Puck Protection - Coaches can teach players to focus on getting the hands away from the MatchStick's pole helping players to get puck protection concepts.
Persistence - The MatchStick's stability and durability allow coaches to not have to take time out of practice to return it to the intended position since as it bounces back after contact.
Robust Slip Arounds - Having players slip the puck behind the MatchStick is much easier on coaches than other options because it stays as intended when impacted.
Description:
Not all matchsticks are made to fit between your thumb and index finger. These MatchSticks are made to seamlessly fit right into your hockey practices while adding some skill challenges that target some under-served elements of developmental players' games.
Looking to make progress with your or your team's puckhandling and puck protection ability in situations where they will need to initiate contact or manage contact from other players?
Or looking to improve dangling ability in tight spaces where you need to work your stick around opponent sticks and bodies to maintain possession while earning time and space?
Simply looking to help players keep their heads up on cone-based puckhandling and skating skill drills?
That MatchStick offers a solution for all of this. And, using them is basically as easy as using a cone, but one that provides a lot more fun and instructive interaction!
